5* sofa but very stressful first delivery attempt
Let's start with the good news - the sofa is luxuriously excellent and would get 5 stars of itself, so highly recommended. The first delivery attempt, however, gets 0 stars. The entrance to my house and stairway is admittedly narrow, but in the showroom the sales lady (who was great) and myself had worked out that the back of the sofa is removable. We measured everything to the point where we were sure the sofa could be taken to my upstairs room without problems. The delivery people arrived, and attempted to squeeze the sofa in its packaging through my front door. They managed but in the process pushed the front door against my hall radiator which started leaking (cost me £120 to get it fixed). After that, the sofa in its packaging did not fit up the stairway, being a maybe 2 cm too wide. I told them that they need to take the packaging off and remove the back parts of the sofa - they said that that can't be done, and when I referred to the sales lady showing me the backs do come off I was told 'she had lied to me'. I then offered to take my front door off and make other accommodations but was told they had no time for that as they had more deliveries to do. It was obvious throughout that they couldn't wait to get away. We were given a date for a second delivery attempt for 2 weeks later and over that fortnight we were completely stressed out as the date drew nearer, wondering how the next attempt could be different. Well, it couldn't have been more different - Mario and Seb from MDCARTSTORE were amazing, extremely friendly and knew exactly what to do: off came the packaging, off came the backs of the sofa and 10 minutes later the sofa was installed. They actually made the whole thing a fun experience with their humour. So 5 stars for the sofa, minus 5 stars for the first delivery guys and 5 stars for Mario and Seb!
