Sofa FAQs

Choosing the best sofa really comes down to what fits your needs and style best. Think about how comfortable you want it to be, whether you prefer fabric or leather, and how it will look in your space. A sturdy frame and durable upholstery are key for long-lasting sofa satisfaction. Also, consider if a modular design would give you the flexibility you need. Ultimately, the best sofa is the one that feels just right when you sit on it, matches your decor, and suits your lifestyle perfectly.

The single best indicator of how long a sofa will last is the frame guarantee. The frame is the structure underneath the upholstery: it determines whether your sofa keeps its shape, supports your weight evenly, and stays firm after years of daily use. If the frame gives way, no amount of good fabric or cushioning will save it.

poltronesofà guarantees the frame for 20 years, on every sofa, as standard. It is not a premium upgrade or a selected-range offer. Every sofa in every collection carries the same guarantee.

Beyond the frame, poltronesofà covers upholstered interiors for 12 months, including foam, fibre and feather filling, covering materials, springs, mechanisms and electrical components. That means the parts you actually sit on are covered from day one. poltronesofà has been making sofas for over 30 years, with more than 300 stores across Europe. Many sofas are made to order, you choose from over 200 fabrics, leathers and colours, and the sofa is built to your specification.

If you want to judge build quality before you commit, the best test is sitting on it. poltronesofà sofa specialists are located across all 97 UK stores have all completed specialist training covering materials, construction and design. They can explain exactly what is inside a sofa and why it matters. You can walk in or book a free appointment.

If your sofa is where you spend most of your evening, or where you work during the day, comfort over time matters more than first impressions. A sofa that feels great for ten minutes but leaves you stiff after two hours is not the right sofa.

Three things make a difference for long sitting. The first is back support: a high-back design or an adjustable headrest lets you support your neck and shoulders properly rather than slumping. The second is the option to change position, which is where a recliner earns its place. The third is build quality, because a frame that softens or sags within a year will only get worse.

poltronesofà offers high-back and low-back designs across the range. The Pianello, for example, brings classic high-back comfort to a generous corner layout. If you prefer adjustability, the Sassuolo is a power recliner with smart tech features. For film nights or family lounging, corner sofas and modular configurations let you stretch out properly. Many are available with sliding seats and adjustable headrests.

Every poltronesofà sofa comes with a 20-year frame guarantee as standard. That matters more when you are using a sofa for hours every day, not just occasionally.

With over 200 fabrics, leathers and colours, most sofas are made to order. The best way to know whether a sofa holds up for long sitting is to try it: poltronesofà advisors across all 97 UK stores can help you find the right support for your routine. Walk in or book a free appointment.
